Why Rainbow Lyme Support is Neccessary.

The formation of Rainbow Lyme Support is grounded in a effort to make sure that everyone has access to personalized healthcare and guidance to the resources that help to provide them with such care. There are some that may view our mission as one that divides the Lyme community, by designating a educational and support space for a specific demographic, however we strongly disagree with this sentiment and do not feel that our work is divisionary! We seek to help everyone have the opportunity to find wellness and to feel safe and comfortable while doing so. Creating a safe space for LGBTQI Lyme patients and their allies excludes no one and embraces all people! In fact, we are seeking to be as inclusive as possible. Instead of creating a segregated space, we are seeking to construct a safe and supportive hub that is tailored to a particular facet of the Lyme community, that often has specific and unique healthcare challenges. The creation of this hub is simply an acknowledgement of diversity, that different parts of the community need specifically tailored resources. We feel that we are following in the footsteps of what all Lyme advocates have pushed to create, a healthcare system based on personalized care that is tailored to the individual patient. Expecting a homogenized approach for all patients, disregarding specific needs, is exactly what we fight against! We feel that tailoring a space to a specific and often marginalized demographic of an already marginalized broader community is the most unifying ideal we could possibly strive to achieve. Division is silence, division is turning a blind when confronted with injustice! Lyme patients fight each and every day to battle our naysayers and have everyone's voices heard, and extending that sentiment to everyone and aknowleding that different communities have different needs joins us together even more. #communityunited #weareallhuman #forwardneverbackwards
